Downtown Oroville's First Friday Movie in the Park feature film is ‘Hitch.’ Come early; bring a blanket, chairs, family & friends. Don’t miss the YMCA Snack Shack with nachos, drinks, candy and popcorn available for purchase. The movie starts at sundown at Bicentennial Park at the corner of Huntoon & Robinson Streets in Downtown Oroville, approximately 8pm. Tonight’s feature is sponsored by the City of Oroville along with the downtown businesses who want to invite the public to enjoy shopping & dining before the movie begins. Movie is rated PG-13; 115 minutes and was first shown in 2005. Movie info: most guys just don't understand women. That's where Alex Hitchins, aka Hitch played by Will Smith, steps in to help the common man become a smooth operator. Hitch has all the right moves that have become urban legend in New York but when he meets Sara, a journalist who plans on exposing him as a fraud, he goes from Mr. Cool to the nutty professor in this charming romantic comedy. The last First Friday Movie in the Park this year will be Kung Fu Panda on August 7.

CHICO CHURCH OF CHRIST INVITES CHILDREN TO CROCODILE DOCK: WHERE FEARLESS KIDS SHINE GOD’S LIGHT A summer kids’ event called Crocodile Dock will be hosted at Chico Church of Christ from July 6 to July 10. Kids jump into bayou fun at Crocodile Dock where they participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into yummy treats, experience electrifying Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God’s Word, and create Bible Point crafts they’ll take home and play with all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes at Firefly Finale—a celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time at 8:45PM Kids at Crocodile Dock will join nearly a million children sharing God’s love in a hands-on mission project, helping disaster victims in North America. Bill Connelly and Steve Lambert, Butte County supervisors for the Oroville area, are the featured speakers for the Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce Legislative Speaker Series Luncheon on July 7, 12:00-1:30pm, at Western Pacific Brewing & Dining, 2191 High St., in Oroville. The supervisors will give us an update on the state of Butte County. There will also be a question and answer period at the end. Lunch begins at noon, and the program will begin at approximately 12:30pm. Beginning June 15, 2009 the U.S. Small Business Adnistration is guaranteeing America's Recovery Capital (ARC) loans of up to $35,000. ARC loans are designed to provide the capital needed for payment of existing business debt, temporary relief to keep struggling businesses open, and the opportunity for existing businesses to restore healthy cash flow. ARC loans are interest free to the borrower, 100% guaranteed by the SBA and have no associated SBA fees. This workshop will cover the benefits and specifics of the new ARC loan program, the requiremnts and procedures for obtaining ARC and other business loans, and how to financially manage your business during these difficult times. Participants will learn about the fascinating history of mountain man Jim Beckwourth, the Clover Valley Logging Company, local ranches, and the Maidu Indians, who lived in the valley for generations before Beckwourth’s wagon road opened the area to European immigrants.Tours start at $45 per person.
